Mac App Store Review Rating: 4 Stars [Download Here]
A while back we wrote about the upcoming Brain App for the Mac App Store. It is based off its developer’s currently existing iPhone and iPad app that offers brain exercises to keep your thinking and reflexes sharp. The developer is offering a beta program where participants are given different elements of the program, none of which offer a complete snapshot of the app. Mac App Store Review has been offered a full preview of Brain App for review prior to the opening of the Mac App Store.
Brain App’s operation is very straightforward and simple. There are four exercises that are available: Speed Math, Balloon Burst, Card Count, and Missing Signs.
- Speed Math: Solve as many equations as possible within the time limit.
- Balloon Burst: Burst the numbered balloons in order. Advanced Mode changes the required order.
- Card Count: Playing cards are displayed. Their sum value needs to be calculated quickly.
- Missing Signs: After being shown two numbers and an answer the proper mathematical sign is chosen.
These activities in themselves seem very simple but do provide a good exercise for your brain. Each activity has multiple difficulty levels. Your high scores for each activity are also kept on your home page, always leaving you wanting to do better. I found myself racing through the activities to beat my score only to find that my mind wasn’t quick enough. Simple tasks take more focus under pressure!
This app reminds me of the Luminosity service that offers brain exercises. The activities are simple enough to start right away but aren’t so simple that they become mundane. Brain App by Chris Mayer Apps is a great way to keep your mind in top shape!
