Developers Discuss App Store Expectations

With the launch of the Mac App Store coming in just under two days a batch of developers have been discussing what they believe their future app sales will be for the desktop platform. The biggest point to note is that developers that are porting their apps from iOS devices are largely maintaining identical price structures, with the most common prices ranging from $1.99 to $4.99 per app. Because of the universal language that is used between the stores converting apps from iOS to Mac OS has come with very little time and cost. Tweaks such as switching interfaces from multitouch screens to keyboards and adjusting screen resolutions have been all that is needed to convert these highly popular apps.

Developers seem to have split opinions on projected Mac App Store sales figures. Some are projecting 10% of their usual iOS App Store sales while others are discussing double or even triple of their usual iOS sales. Some of these differences may be from the usefulness of individual apps on their respective platforms and differences in their usability (apps that heavily rely on multitouch may be difficult to implement on the Mac such as Tap Tap Revolution).
